Affidavits

Affidavit of Heirship

Used in conjunction with a copy of the death certificate or will in order to sell or donate a deceased owners vehicle (Only used when the succession has not been opened with the courts). All heirs including spouse must sign document and have it notarized.

Affidavit of Non-Possession

Used when title assignment is completed (signed & notarized) in error or sale was not processed

Affidavit of Odometer Reading Error

Used to correct mileage on a vehicle already titled; must be signed by buyer and seller.

Permission for Spouse to Trade

Used to allow trade credit for a vehicle registered in a spouses name only.

Statement of Clerical Error

Used when correcting a clerical error on a document.

Statement of Error

Used when correcting various errors made on a document.

Statement of Fact

Used when a detailed explanation is needed to explain a specific situation.

Statement of One in The Same

Used when the name on the title for a vehicle being traded is different from the name being registered on a vehicle being purchased or if a seller signed any document differently than what is on the paperwork. Example maiden name and married name.

Statement of Residency

Used when an out of state resident trades a vehicle to a Louisiana dealer or sells to a Louisiana resident

Statement of Sole Owner

Used when a sole owner of a company trades a vehicle in the company's name (cannot be used for a corporation)
